When Jacksonville-based neurosurgeon
Bruce Hartwig purchased a 1907 home
on Frances Street, known to neighbors and
local historians as “The House of Seven
Gables,” he wanted to make sure it would
last for at least another century. To that
end, he hired local architect Rob Delaune,
a specialist in Key West’s restrictive regulations
for historic preservation, to not only
restore the home to its former glory, but to
build an addition in the same design motif
